The Last Story review

Sunday, April 8, 2012

I know this blog is about anime, but sometimes i like to post something not related to it.I've been playing through this gem since the beginning of this week, and if you have a Wii and like RPGs,this is an excellent game and a must have,it has somehow consumed my free time in my last days (yeah, that's why i didn't post anything).Don't worry about spoilers, this post is spoiler free.

Graphics:

For a wii game, they are very great.Lazulis island is a beautiful place and it has the feeling that everything is alive, busting.Even places like caves you can feel the environment.

Sound

It's not epic, but it's AWESOME.Come on,we are talking about Uematsu Nobuo, who was also involved with  Final fantasy X and Chrono Trigger soundtracks. No need of further comments.By the way, that is the soundtrack box.

Story

Concept-art

Great. With a few surprises and cliche main protagonists, the story is the weakest  part of this game, but it still manages to be involving with their charismatic protagonists.

Gameplay

It's somewhat a merge of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.Srategies are required to defeat certain enemies while you need to manage the battle area,so brute force or poor management will only make you die. It's a different, but excellent twist.

Conclusions

I had some issues with framerate when the screen is crowded with enemies or when a lot of magic spells were casted at the same time, but it's very rare. There are checkpoints in most part of the game,so it's not the kind of frustating game. You may run into a few control or camera problems when tring to execute a technique as quickiest a possible, but it doesn't ruin the fun.The Last Story is one of the best RPGs in the Wii console,so it's a must have.
